NorthView

Benevolence Procedures

NorthView  Benevolence Ministry is designed to be an explicit testimony of the love of Jesus Christ. Galatians 6:10 says, “As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers”. NorthView strives to model this Christ-like behavior by helping provide the basic necessities of life for those in need.

NorthView members and regular attendees may apply for financial assistance through our Benevolence Ministry; those who are not members or regular attendees may apply if referred by a NorthView member or regular attendee.

Although it is our sincere desire to provide financial assistance for all legitimate needs, we are only able to consider requests that are short-term in nature. We are not able to provide long-term assistance. Also, we do not help with childcare fees, long-term or recurring medical expenses, credit card, tax, or legal expenses.

By carefully following the steps outlined below, you will help us complete your benevolence application process in about two weeks.

Steps to the NorthView Benevolence Process:

1.       Download, complete, and submit the Benevolence Application

Download, complete, and submit a Benevolence Application to Benevolence Ministry team member.  Please download the Benevolence Application Form.  You may also pick up an application from the church office. Return the completed application to the church office, or fax it to 678-730-0487

2.       Wait for your application to be reviewed

Your application will be reviewed and its information verified. Applicants are asked to discuss their requests (typically by phone) with a NorthView Benevolence Ministry team member.

3.       Schedule your interview

If your application meets NorthView guidelines, you will be contacted to schedule an interview with the Benevolence Ministry. Interviews are typically scheduled on Sunday mornings from 8:30am – 9:30am, or Wednesday nights from 5pm – 7pm.

4.       Prepare for your interview

We understand that typically these requests are emergencies and that some situations may not require a full financial evaluation, but NorthView does reserve the right to ask that you provide copies of specific bills, paychecks, eviction notices, or other related documents. Fax those copies to the church office, or bring them with you to your interview. (Please submit copies; NorthView cannot accept original documents.)

5.       Attend your interview

Come to the NorthView church office at your scheduled interview time. You will meet with individual(s) from the NorthView Benevolence Ministry. (If you are married, both you and your spouse should attend the interview.) If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify the NorthView Church office by calling 678-730-0123 before 8 a.m. on the day of your interview. Please leave a message if there is no answer.

6.       Wait for the decision

A NorthView Benevolence Ministry team member will contact you with the team’s decision within seven business days of your meeting. The Benevolence Ministry may also recommend services such as budget and/or financial advising, counseling, or make referrals to other applicable services and/or organizations. Pleae keep in mind that filling out an application and being interviewed by the Benevolence Ministry does not guarantee that assistance will be provided.

7.       Receiving your financial assistance

If financial assistance is approved, NorthView will write a check payable only to the service provider you owe (e.g., mortgage company, utility company, etc.). A NorthView Benevolence Ministry team member will schedule a required consultation with you to receive your check. You will be responsible for mailing or delivering the check to the necessary service provider.
